  1. I have tried the original transistors and 2n5088. All I’m getting is very low clean volume. I used the original diodes. It’s late so I will trouble shoot more tomorrow afternoon.

  2. Getting very low volume and very little dist. All I have for Q5 is a 5308 at the moment.

    1. Have you checked the pinout for the transistors? 2N3392 and 2N5306/08 have BCE pinout but the layout is modified for the more common CBE pinout. This circuit is not too fussy about transistor selection, I ended up with 2N3904s and MPSA14 for Q7.
Hope you will get this working, it is one of my favorite vintage fuzzes....unpredictable yet so useful.

    2. It's probably going to be stupid like that. I need to recheck my pinout. Is it Q5 or Q7 that is different

    3. Scrath my statement about Q7. It is Q5 that is the darlington transistor. The rest is normal BJTs.

  3. Also, this is my first Transformer build. I saw on the sabro layout that it did not matter which way the Transformer went just that the center leg on the right side was not used. I just bent that up out of the way. I bent the top mounting tab up in out of the way. The bottom mounting tab I stuck through the hole on the trace cut. Should that be bent and soldered or not connected at all

    1. It is 10k:10k transormer so the orientation doesn't matter. For the centre leg on the right side, I would just snip it off, same thing with the mountin tabs.

  4. So um uh yeah. I’m a dumbass. I should have looked at my pins closer before posting and turned the output up on my headphone monitor, duh. Holy Sheets what a pedal. This sounds incredible. I listened to a demo for comparison. To me it sounds just like the malekko if not better. I used 5088s and bent the pins on the 5308. Used the original diodes. I’m going to order a 1590xx to put it in, I could squeez it in a BB but it would be real tight on the height and my stomp switch would be a smidge off center. Thanks for getting me straightened out and the great layout. Cheers.

  5. Also note worthy. Just for shnits and chuckles I have the 2n3392s so I twisted them up to compare to the 2n5088s. I found a good bit of difference. The distortion and octave sound much tighter to me. I may try the 2n3904s just out of curiosity but right now I’m really digging the 3392s. This hing has so many voices , you can get lost for hours.

  6. Hi! Amazing page and layouts. Thanks a lot fuzzhead.. i built this one and its a banger! Since the signal get split in 2 paths on this one... Would it be possible to add a momentary killswitch somewhere/somehow?
