MXR Phase 90

 This one has been requested a lot but I never ended up with a layout that left me satisifed. But now I think I got it. I also included two mods; Script/Block swith and 2/4 Stages switch. 2N5952 J FETs is nearly impossible to score nowadays,, good subs would be 2N5485 or 2N5457 and possibly others. Just mind the pinout.

Electro Harmonix The Worm / Madbean Charlatan

 A vintage big box The Worm with some useful improvemnts and mods by Madbean. The power section have been reworked by a voltage doubler and a voltage regulator for 9v to 15v operation. An internal volume trimpot is added. And the unknown original vactrols is replaced by a trio of LDR/LED pair.

Electro Harmonix Bad Stone

 This is a monster!

It is based on the schematic by Lectric Fx which includes a recovery stage with internal trimpots to set the output volume.Schematic is avaiable HERE.

Korg FK-2 Mr. Multi

 Another weird one! A rotary selector selects between a four stage phaser, wah and phaser and wah combined. The latter mode is supposed to be something out of this world. Deadend Fx (who else) have a projects for this beast and as usual, don't hesitate to support these guys by bying some nifty PCBs. They also included some useful mods such a Depth control for the LFO and two trimpots to fine tune the LFO and the sweep of the wah pot. Build docs, schematic and setup guide HERE.

MXR Phase 45

 

Maestro Fuzz Phazzer FP2-3 - modified

 

This one belongs to the category " old, weird and forgotten". Maestro Fuzz Phazzer was an odd piece of gear, a gnarly fuzz based on Maestro FZ-1S Super fuzz followed by an optical discrete phaser circuit....without a LFO. The sweep was controlled by a foot treadle which also acted as a volume control in "bypass" mode.

I had to do some modernizations for this. First, true bypass. Second, get rid of that  dual gang 30k phase/volume potentiometer. I replaced it with a single 50k pot so you can use either a normal wah pot or a normal potentiometer. The volume function is lost but I added a master volume control at the end of the circuit.

There are some things that need to be tested as well; the LDRs and the mini lamp. I can't find any info on the stock parts but a good start might be socket some Univibe LDRs and a random mini lamp with solder leads.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Blackout Effectors Crystal Dagger

 Here is a cool one. It is essentally two separate circuits in one box, a fuzz with a switchable octave up and a tweaked Small Stone phaser. Original had separate boards as well and if you wish you can house them in separate enclosures. If you decide to house them in one enclosure, the fuzz is the first circuit follwed by the phaser.

Electro Harmonix Small Stone V2

 The more common version of the the vintage Small Stone phaser. Modernized for LM13600/LM13700 OTA ICs.

There was a an incorrect value in the factory schematic. It is now corrected and the layout is verified by slammer88.

 Layout for the first version of Small Stone which was produced between 1974(?) and 1978.

Layout is based on schematic from Lectric Fx

 Note that original had long gone obsolete 8 pin OTA chips so this layout is modernized for easy to get LM13700s.
