Does anyone know where to get some of these bizarro resistor values? Typically I just get as close as I can by combining two values but I hate the way it looks. I guess it doesn't matter. Does this annoy anyone else?
I put in the original transistors today. Q 1&2 - 220hfe, Q3 - 279hfe. It's much more alive now. It's bright and brash with a ragged edge. A bit too harsh for me, but I imagine running it into a darker amp on the edge of breakup would be great.
Holy s**t those are some big filter caps!

ReplyDeleteI'd just use 75k and 200ohm, I think.
DeleteTag it! Works fine. I didn't have the original transistors so I just used some 2N3906's around 200 hfe and a slightly higher gain BC 307B to finish.

DeleteI put this together today, but it sounded very weak. The notes just sort of crackled out with no sustain.😔😔
