Yet another modified Bluesbreaker. Did some mods that might be useful. First, Drain, resistors for the J FETs is replaced with trimpots for easy biasing. Two: internal DIP switches is replaced with external toggle switches..
The schematic is avaiable HERE.
IC2 10nF -> 240K to IC1 and 10p to ground are pretty uncommon. Never seen that before.
ReplyDeleteI plan to build this. In D16 and D20 where R8 (1M) and R10 (6k8) meet on the same strip, shouldn't there be a cut between ? (D17, 18 or 19) else they both go to Tone 2 directly.
ReplyDeleteR25 (100R) and D1 (1N5817) in the power stage are in reverse order compared with schematic on the link, but I guess that does not matter, right?
Same for R11 (12k) and C12 (10u) from Q2 source pin, the order has no impact, right?
Any plans on adding the Pro Mod version? I think it is an extra switch, but not quite sure.
I see the cut added at D17. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteAmazed that I forgot to implement my own cut suggestion at D17...
ReplyDeleteThe effect was that Clip Off sounded very random: loud and "scrapy", Presence knob had no effect at all (makes sense since it was bypassed) and Tone acted like slight tone variations but much more volume change (probably also makes sense).
Anyway, should anyone else out there build this and happen to use an old layout, or miss the D17 cut...
Sounds killer now :-)
