Earthquaker Devices White Light Overdrive

  1. Built it and fired up right away! I owned an OCD clone by Mosky and traded it for a chorus recently and came straight here to build myself an overdrive. Found this little guy and built it just because of the name White Light (white heat!) and holy hell this thing is a beast! Everything I love about Dod250 type pedals, but just a bit more! Makes me glad I traded that OCD clone :) Thanks a bunch for this great layout!

  2. What other chips would work in here?

    1. I built one of these on another layout years ago and I have in my notes that I tried multiple ICs for some reason? I remember not liking the sound at max gain with the stock settings.

      These all worked in my build: LM1458, TL072, TL062, NE5532, TLC2262, LF535.

This thread claims the real ones had the IC socketed.

  3. Thank you! I ordered the lm833 but it's taking forever! I wondered if the standard distortion plus lm741 would work...I have some tl072s so at least I can try it out...

  4. I found this blog searching for this pedal layout. I originally used tagboardeffects exclusively. Ironically as I started relying on this site more, the next layout Ivlark posted on tagboardeffects was for the White Light. It’s a nice sounding drive. One that I should use more.

  6. Another cool one is the Catalinbread Katzenkonig. It’s like a rat and a tone bender smashed together.
