  1. Made one of these. It’s working good. Thanks for the layout.

  2. Verified... Level 2 and 3 are labelled in correctly

  3. Will 1n60p shokkty do instead of 1n34a?

    1. Any garden variety barrier diode will do nicely - usual candidates 1N60P, BAT41 and 46, 1N400x etc

    2. I built one of these and got it sounding really good - the transistors are going to be the headache for you. Make sure to use sockets, because being in beta mode with the transistors essential backward makes this super finicky. 1N4401s worked best for me, but I might have just got lucky.

    3. I never ended up doing it, made the super fuzz war instead. But I did thing about doing this with trimmers for the bias resistors instead of fixed ones. Treat it like J201 circuits that need biasing.

  4. Built one on a breadboard and tried multiple parts, values etc....here's my answers...

works best with original parts and resistor values, much better than the suggested mod version here.....catch is you need lower gain 2n5089s. I got a bunch at about 310-320hfe. Higher hfe trannies just gate and sputter.

-2n5088s sounded more gated in comparison to my 2n5089s, biased at either 430k or 820k. if it was all I had I'd have available I'd have used it though.
-680n sounded better than 100n, more bottom end.
-C7 (the 4.7n cap)...no..just no. It's scooped and no low end as anything with it. That cap changes the pedal sound massively. sounded better with 680n or if you are going lower use 100n.

  5. In summary.....

if you got lower gain 2n5089s, use those, 430k bias and 680n caps all through.
If not use 2n5088, prob 820k bias but 680n caps all through still. C7 is the cap that tames the pedal if you wanted too, rest don't change much in comparison.
