  1. Oh man! I have all the parts for this and it sounds amazing!
I'm totally nervous to try and wire up the switch I have!

  2. I've found a diagram that kind of makes sense....but could one of those 6 lug three way switches be used? Like a dpdt on/off/on?

    1. If you want all four switch settings, you need a rotary switch. With some rejigging of the layout and some cap value changes you can use a on/off/on toggle switch. But you will only have three settings.

  3. Doesn't the original has two stompswitches? I can't find them in the schematic or your layout.

    1. Yes, you are right.
I should have mentioned that Mr. PedalPCB did some mods with the switch.

  4. Thanks for the layout. I think I have an extra 3p4t so I may have a go at this one in a few. Can I throw out a layout request for the Mutagen? I love Basic Audio's take on the classic circuits. https://www.pedalpcb.com/docs/Schematic-Mutagen.jpg

  5. Thanks for this one! You can tag it. I tried it with BC108's & 109's, but ended up with mpsa18's in it. I used a standard pot instead of the trimpot for the Q2 bias control. The switching works as it should. Thanks again!

    2. Echowreck - what did your rotary switch look like?
I have an oval one with lugs all over it, but I'm guessing I just have to designate one of the three inner lugs as A then use the four surrounding lugs as the numbered ones...🤔

    3. Since I had an extra, I used one of these: https://www.taydaelectronics.com/electromechanical/switches-key-pad/rotary-switch/rotary-switch-3-pole-4-position-alpha-sr2511-2684.html , but a 1p4t, or 2p4t would work fine, as only 1 pole is in use. I used a multi-meter to figure out the lug numbering and direction.

  7. I was wondering, as Hiwatt originally intended to build this with Germanium transistors, how difficult would it be to convert this one to germanium.
