Based on on the mighty Roland Bee Baa with some interesting tweaks. The transistor part numbers remains unknown but I giess 2N5088s or 2N3904s are good starters to experiment with. Also, the Gate pot can be subbed for a larger value for a wider sweep and the Filter pot can be subbed with a smaller value for a more even sweep.
Schematic is avaiable HERE.
Well, gonna have to build this next week.

ReplyDeleteGround?
ReplyDeleteI haven't checked the original schematic this is drawn from, but from the looks of this layout, the second row from the top (row B), where the cathode of the 47uF electrolytic, as well as lugs 1 from the tone and the fuzz pot are - that should be a good place to connect to ground. It doesn't look like either end of that row is free, tho. I personally don't mind attaching a wire further in on the board, but you could always wire fuzz lug 1 to tone lug 1 offboard and have an extra wire going to the ground connection on your battery or 9v jack.
Deleteor you can add a cut to row K/column 10, and then add a jumper from row I/column 5 (just over from where the volume 1 lug connects) and then put your ground wire on row K/column 1 just above the 100pF MLCC cap. That should connect everything to ground nicely.
DeleteAll of Chris suggestions will work but I just added the ground connection to row B along with the Tone 1 connection.
DeleteVerified - sounds really good. I got good results with a 25kA for gate - with that you can omit the switch and the gate is just off at min. I preferred larger cap values on the treble switch too (4n7 and 10n) but that's personal taste
