Redson 12 Overdrive

Here is a quite rare old japanese  low to mid gain overdrive that is supposed to sound really good.

A big thanks to Tobias for the trace!

    1. Looks good but R2 (220k) needs to be moved to the other side of the C1 (22nF).

    2. Thanks!

Still have question about C4+R5 47n and 470K, for what purpose?
and R13+R14, that became 440K, so if use one 470K, how much difference?

Running out pots, time to stock.

    3. Hi! The purpose of the string 47n+470k to virtual ground was that it had impact on the sound. It was in the tracked schematic, and I first I let it out -it sounded different to the original. Next trial I put it in -and it fit. To be honest I didn´t try 470k as I wanted to be as close to the original as possible. But feel free to try!

  2. Mine came out sounding pretty dark. I've never heard one of these prior to building. What components make up the tone filter? I'd like to experiment with brightening this one up a bit.

    1. I would reduce the value of the 10nF cap. Not sure which value to settle on though...

    2. Verified here as well. I´d go for 6.8nF or maybe 4.7nF instead of 10nF in the loop. You could also try and change the 270R and 1uF before the Gain pot.
I was quite happy with it sounding darker. Try this after (!) a Bluesbreaker-type pedal!
The topography of this is/was quite unique, it shares similarities with the Dist+, the OD1 and has a "transparent"-diode-arrangement -from a time when that wasn´t even "invented".
