  1. Man... we both worked on it yesterday, I guess! :D

This is the UNVERIFIED layout of mine:

My board is smaller, but I used to place the resistors stand up.

PS The new light colors of the blog is nice! ;)

  2. This is the best pedal demo I've ever seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy4vRrGDijk

    1. The 10uF for the fat control should be reversed, right?

    2. Yes, indeed it should! Will flip it around tomorrow.

    3. Cool. Looks like the effects layout triple 7 pcb/schem is wrong. I’d drop them a note, but I don’t see an easy way to contact them

  3. Built this up. Didn't seem right, not much fuzz until the highest gain level, and sounded kinda bad. I was comparing my build to the schem linked from effetslayouts, and noticed that the 1k resistor on Q1 C should be 10k according to the schem. I swapped it out and sounds great, planning to box it up. The 10u cap on the fat control still need reversed in the layout. Otherwise it's good to go, thanks for the tidy layout (and nicely spaced film caps).

    1. Excellent! Thanks for verifying and spotting the mistakes. Tagged it and cap is flipped and resistor is upped to 10k.

  4. I built this using some BC547B's that I had on-hand and it sounds pretty good, from what I can tell it's very close to the demo videos. The 547s and 549s share the same data sheet so I assume they sound pretty much the same? According to the sheet the difference is the 549s are lower voltage, however, the HFE range is indicated by the A, B, or C suffix. Safe to assume a BC547B would sound about the same as a BC549B? https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/308/BC550-D-1802078.pdf

    1. Yeah, BC549Bs is very close and in many aspects, identical to BC547Bs so I think BC547Bs is avalid replacement.

    2. awesome, thanks for the layout I'm looking forward to boxing it up!

  5. Question: Is the layout correct, in regards to the 10uF cap connected to Fat 2? Should the negative side of the 10u should be connected there? (looking at the linked schematic it still seems backwards)

    1. That 10uF caps orientation in the schematic just looks plain wrong since ususally, you'll want the positive leg facing to the voltage source. In this case the positive leg should connect 100k(9v)/1k(base of Q1) and the negative leg to the inpit of the circuit. It might work as drawn in the schematic but the caps lifespan might be reduced and it can add lots of resistance.

So, yes. The cap is orientantion is as is "should" in the layout but is still wrong in the schematic.
