Runoffgroove Mockman V2

  1. Here’s another fairly simple one that I just can’t seem to get working. It seems like lately the complicated builds just fire up on the first try, but the simple ones give me nothing but trouble. Can you have a look and see if it’s something obvious? Thanks

    1. Been over over the schematic and can't spot any obvious errors. Here are the schematic for some fresh eyes.

  2. Just built this and it got it working.
I socketed C9 and tried a 470p initially but there was a load of noise and squealing. Upping the cap to 680p didn't make much difference. I tried a 1n, 3n3 then 6n8 to see what would happen and there was an improvement as the cap increased. Placing a buffer before helped with the lower cap values, I used a klon buffer from tagboard.
I ended up with a 15n for C9 which is well out the range specified but it tamed the noise and squealing. This does reduce some of the harshness in the high end a bit but I'm fine with that. I think I prefer it this way.
The opamp was LM1458N. With the 15n cap I didn't need to use the buffer anymore either. Really pleased with how it sounds, a keeper and one to be boxed.
