It is based on a 1974 schematic. Some changes have been done compared to the schematic to make the FETs work properly and some small value power filter resistors have been omitted.
What a beast! A question for others who've built this one: does it sound *really* compressed? It sounds great, super beastly, powerful tone controls, etc. but mine feels like I'm running a compressor in front of it. An open chord lasts half a minute—and I'm playing a Jaguar, the plinkiest, most not-sustaining guitar ever!
Only difference is I'm using BF245As instead of J201s, but that substitution has never produced this kind of a difference before.
Which orange preamp is this? The early 70s? And is it identical to it?

ReplyDeleteFinally scored some proper JFET's. I think it's a monster.
