I'm glad I finally got around to building this variant. There is something about the character of the distortion/fuzz that I really like about this one and I can't quite put my finger on it. I used B taper pots for gain and tone as that it what I typically use. I feel like the tone control has a wider sweet spot than a lot of other Muffs. I used BC109c transistors with hFE of around 620 and replaced D3 with a red LED for asymmetrical clipping and a little more volume. I am toying with the idea of running a clean boost before the circuit a la' Mask Audio Black Math or a boost after the Muff for amp crushing output.
