ZVex Octane 2

  1. Just boxed this up and it sounds awesome. I rolled all kinds of NPNs and found that 3904s around 320HFE gave the beat results. I also chose 1n914s over germanium diodes as they were less splatty. One note, I found the tone knob on mine worked in reverse where further CW, the more bass was present, and the overall output drops. Not sure if that’s what happens on the original but it doesn’t seem quite right. Otherwise amazing sounding, underrated circuit, thanks for posting!

    1. Agreed! Great sound circuit for sure. Tonestack is wired per schematic; it basically lift of the mid scoop filter from ground and doing so the volume increases quite a bit. callLets it a tone bypass pot instead.
