      i found doom stick 2 from mr black, i think you're right, looks almost the same with added gain & tone control!

      I built this and generally, it sounds awesome but there's a significant hiss when not playing through it. How was the noise on yours?

      Using sockets, swap transistors, see if that changes anything?
