Hi, I built this monter recently. Noticed that on the schematic the capacitor below Q1 is 220nF instead of 100nF, I used the 100nF though. My build, worked partially. So the treble knob did work, the volume knob only the first 2/10 (I have to admit I used a 100kB, instead of 100kA; guess the logarithmic works better). This effect has a lot of sustain. Unfortunately when I tried to check on my mistakes or shorts (the switch wiring is kind of a nightmare) I made it worse! Less is working. Need ta break on this one. Also in the schematic at the input the 1uF and 1k are in opposite sequence, I kept it the same way since it's easier to insert the parts, don't know if this influence the sound a lot. Then I also omitted the mods, pF capacitor and trim pot.
Hey you can tag this one. I subbed all of the transistors to a bc183, some bc550b’s, and a bc184lc. I forgot to match the pair but the octave is not lacking. The volume could be a linear taper for a better spread and I suppose the gain could be too. Treble is pretty subtle but it does more with certain settings over others.
Very glad to find this layout, as Dead End FX is on pause due to a postal strike! I was about to snag his Zuperbee... :( I'd love to incorporate his mods into your layout - especially a switch to include the 6th transistor in the Starve function. Possibly the other additions too... I'd be incredibly grateful if you could give me some guidance on that - thanks SO much! Excellent, excellent blog.
Welp, seems like Anders still can't comment on his blog! Bummer- luckily this place is teeming with talent! Quick question - say I wanted to change the Mode footswitch to a Toggle and jettison the LED... How would I do that and what kind of switch would I need - DPDT since there's no LED? I'd also remove the board's CLR and LED for the main footswitch, as I usually use a 3PDT daughterboard for those. Would love some insight, hopefully someone see this! :)
As far as I know, Anders is able to comment on posts again, he's just not on here as much these days because he has quite a bit of other real-life stuff going on.
As far as converting the footswitch to a toggle, you can get rid of the connections for lugs 2&3 on this drawing - they handle the indicator LED. I believe lug 1 is unconnected. To use a DPDT toggle, just move the remaining six lug connections over one column. Everything labeled here as 4, 5, 6 can be moved over to lugs 1,2,3 of a DPDT toggle. Then 7,8,9 can be moved over to lugs 4,5,6 of the DPDT toggle. Hope that makes sense.
Incredible! Thank you SO much, I'm not sure I would have figured that out... So I can leave 1D and 22K empty on the board now? I assume I would also delete both CLRs and leave 1A empty since the main footswitch's CLR and LED will be on the 3PDT daughterboard...

Oh I I didn't had a 680k, used a 560k. I might add a 100k.
