When you say that do you mean literally nothing or just that it has a limited range? The original is limited in its range. It's as if you were to take about 15% of the sweet spot of another fuzz and stretch it out for the whole rotation of the pot.
I used an MP41a and had low volume and gain and the fuzz pot didn`t too anything. Then a 2n1306 has much more volume and gain and the fuzz pot does something. I don`t know why..The two MP41 (hfe80) are supposed to work..
