  1. Hey Anders, what do you think about the latest digivolution of that one? The Orange smoothie! Maybe if dan armstrong did a kind of deconstruction from the 1176 with the Orange squeezer, the Orange smoothie It s like fm synthesis from the squeezer. Indeed worth a try, only problemo would be size. By the way LOVE your evergrowing blog

    1. That version of the schematic is 1.1. A much later version, 1.2 was published in this post:

  3. This one didn't fly for me. I had signal...but it was just quiet.

  4. Built this last night and I also had signal, but it was too quiet to be useful even with everything at full bore.

  5. I built one some time ago from a tagboard layout. Before I discovered Dirtbox. I compared that layout to this and I may have found the issue after staring at it for a while. The cut at H-8 is unneeded I believe. The Drain of Q2 should reach the 390k resistor connected to power. The effect is somewhat subtle, so don't expect an overly squishy effect.

  6. Thanks, Tom!! I gave it a shot, bridging the cut at H8, and oddly enough had really no discernible change in result; there is still signal, but it is very very quiet. I can also definitely hear that the trimmer effects the output, but not much at all. I'll get back to poking around. I've read many reports that say the effect is subtle, and some that say it is not so much, but if this is working properly, then it's subtle with a capital B.

    1. No, I'm wrong. That resistor doesn't bias the drain. Sorry man, my error. I don't see any obvious mistakes, compared to that other layout.

  7. Hey, it was worth a shot. I ended up removing the jumper and will look over it again later. Also, I might just be asking too much of it. Thanks again, Tom!

    2. This is Verified with a couple small corrections. The 2.4k should connect source and gate of Q1. Just stand it up in rows L and M. There are 10 links not 9. Row 16 can be eliminated completely. Now the layout is actually 15x16.

      Sound kewl. Thanks

    3. Yesssss! It works and sounds great. I kinda like the sound of it with the trimmer wide open, but not sure if I'd want to keep it that way ALL the time, so looks like I'm going in again to swap it out for a pot. Thanks again, Tom!

    4. Adding a comp pot would be easy enough. Pull the trimmer and maybe move the link in row 1 over to 7. Then add your 10k pot to row 1. Lug 1 would connect to M, Lug 2 N and Lug 3 O. I may do that myself.

    1. The layout works but follow the note I made above. A resistor needs to move a row or two. Look at the comment from 13 September at 10:19.
