A "B" taper dual-gang pot as a paramteric EQ will operate completely differently than an "A" taper pot. It will sound much more bunched up at the bottom of the range. Not a recommended substitution.
The TL082 should be fine.
In what way is the circuit not working for guitar? Is the signal comparably weaker then with a bass, like cutting out or choking?
Sound doesnt sound like it has much change accross the frequencies but its a bit more noticeable on bass. I guess ill try and source a B taper pot and give that a go.
So im noticing it more as a bass boosting as opposed to taking it out and giving me lofi vibes. I also found a manual online and it said bass instead of guitar to plug in. I got a b taper pot and i have switched it in. One switch position has no effect (as said in the manual) the other 2 positiong it is almost like a bass cut but not giving me lofi vibes, just sounds like it has dropped the bass volume and volume over all. I have quadruple checked for bridges and that everything is in the right spot but alas no lofi vibes :(
Lofi vibes? I don't think that's what you're going to get from this pedal. It's just a simple bass preamp with a volume control and a variable scoop EQ. Nothing wobbly or modulated is going to happen. Get an A taper 50k dual-gang pot so that it well control the appropriate frequency range. Other than that, I think you're looking for a different kind of pedal.
Built this with a TL082. Works. Sounds pretty cool. Can get some AM radio, lofi tones out of it. Not sure what the original was like but this is cool.
ReplyDeleteIf you can get Test Match Special on AM I might build this, catch up on ENG v AUS
DeleteThanks for verifying!

Where's the output ?
ReplyDeleteThe Output is connected to lug 2 of the Level pot. It is mentioned in the notes below the layout.
Delete7 links, not 6 (no big deal, I just mentioned it)
ReplyDeleteI built this and works well on bass but i cant seem to get it working well for electric guitar. Is there something i should check?
ReplyDeleteI couldnt get a 50kA dual gang but did get a 50kB dual gang (so linear not Log taper) but this shouldnt make that big of a difference right?
DeleteChip is tl082
