OKKO Diablo Boost+ version

Several versions has been made of this great sounding overdrive  and this version is called "Boost+.The layout is based on the schematic at FSB but I took the liberty to do some changes that could be useful.

First, the J FETs remains to be unknown so I added a Bias trimpot to be able to use several types of J Fets.

Second, the internal 9v/18v switch is now panel mounted.

Third, Level+ control is now external....simply because there are too many trimpots already!

All the trimpots (except for the Bias) is on the edge of the board for the option to build an 11 knob overdribe...:-p.

  1. Hey Fuzzhead,
I'd like to have a shot at this pedal but I just need a short clarification on the 9v18v switch. I suppose your running the 9v input through a 2pdt on/on on the 2 lug and jumper 3 and 4. But I am really confused about the three contacts to the 9v18v switch on 1F 1L and 1O. Where do they connect to? I hope I make sense :).
    Sincerely
    Iv
PS: I already built your Pantheon and BB Preamp w. Mid Switch layouts. Killer! But be ready to be bothered with the BB as I wanted to implement the dual gang volume pot and now have a loss of overall output ^^

    1. Maybe I got it figured out. It's a dpdt on/on switch wired 1 (1F) 2 (1L) 3 (1O) to switch between 9v and 18v mode. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    2. Hi there!Sorry for not responding earlier, pretty busy over here. For the voltge switch, lug 2 should connectto the connection close to pin 1 of the charge pump. For the outer lugs it doesn't really matter, they are interchangable.

I will add lug number lables as sson as I get home in a couple of days.

    4. I finished the effect and ran it through a test box. More switch 1 and 4 as input and output of the boost section is working fine. Nice and clear boost. Rock switch 1 and 4 as input and output of the overdrive section also works. At extreme settings I got sqealing noises but my guitars singlecoils in front of the computer might be the culprit. I have to box it to clearly test the circuit but as for now it is an functional overdrive, therefore you could tag it as verified. What didn't work was the 9v/18v switch. I wired it lug 1 (1L) 2 (1F) 3 (1O) and in one setting I get signal and in the other setting it is muted.

  2. Also I think gain 3 should connect to body 3 as in Sabrotones layout. Otherwise you only get overdrive when turning the drive knob counterclockwise.
