DOD 210 FET Preamp

Here we have a small one, an old J FET booster. Polarity protection diode and power filter cap has been added and the 22k Drain resistor is replaced with 50k trimpot so we can socket and try out a wide range of J FETs.

  1. You can verify this one Fuzzhead. Can I request the Timmy v2 :)?, still missing that one (you can also verify Timmy v1 with the suggested lugs-adjustment)

    1. Thanks Alex! I'll tag it when I get back home in a couple of days.

For Timmy V2, there is no specific schematic for it, at least not online. But several sources claims that it is almsost identical to V1. The only difference appears to be the diode selector switch, the internal DIP switch is an external toggle for V2.

I'll tag and swap tome lug numberings for the pots for V1 in a couple of days as well.

      Thanks for reminding me!

      Cheers.

    2. Allright thanks man! When I compare the V1 (your layout) to the V2 (tagboardeffectslayout), the V1 seems a bit darker sounding, something different in the midrange. I think I can also hear that on youtube demo's with the real pedals. So I guess there is a slight difference.

    3. After comparing v3 and v1 here, I would guess that the slightly smaller input cap ( 39n as opposed to the 47n )and the two 820n caps that replace the 1uf caps will make it a little less dark. I am finishing up v3 today. Have missed my Timmy since I gave my first one to a friend.

    4. Yeah, I also regret selling my original Timmy v2!
Still got my doubts about the Timmy v3 layout, it all works but the gain switch introduces so much more gain than I can hear on the original demo's @ youtube.

    5. Interesting. I didn't know if the gain switch was going to add much gain so I went ahead and used a 1 meg gain pot ( I've always wanted a bit more gain occasionally ). Probably going to blow me out of the water when I engage it. Might have to switch back to the 500k. Thanks for the heads up!

Are you located in the states Alex?
