Hi Fuzzhead, I checked the layout with the schem an found a few mistakes: - From VCC there should be 2 100µf in // to gnd (maybe you omitted the 2nd intentionaly, may be worth replacing by 1 220µf for better filtering ?) - You inverted R10 and C9 before IC3.2 - You linked IC2.2 pins 5 and 6 whereas they are not connected on the schem Otherwise great layout as usual, hard to make it smaller I imagine
(1) and (2) right, but you have a double link under IC3 on your layout connecting pins 5 and 6, which corresponds if i'm right to IC2.2 on the schem where the same pins are not connected
Glad I checked the comments! I'm building this one now and will have to go back and remove the double link from under the IC. I'll report back later once I finish it!
Got it built up and the signal is getting cut off somewhere before making it to the output. I can hear that the volume pot is working but no sound. Going to try and debug this in the morning after I get some rest.
Spoke too soon - builder error. I had a jumper going from under IC2 to the wrong row. Found it. Fixed it. You should tag this as verified. I watched a couple demos of the original and I think this does the trick!
When you max everything, it wants to feedback but doesn't quite get there. Output is a tad bit on the low side for me. I'm building this for a friend who plays in power violence/hardcore band, so I'm going to add a switchable boost of some kind in order to bring the noise if needed. Thanks again for the notes on the link and the 470k resistor, guys!
Ohhh that’s soooo good …. At the next month I will try to build it
ReplyDeletePathos ( Πάθος ) in Greek mean passion .. :)

Hey Alltrax!
DeleteThere are two 100uF caps across VCC and ground; one is is the horizontal one a row B. The other one is just left to pin 1 of IC3.
For the inverted cap and resistor at IC2....it doesn't matter. It is inverted just for the flow of the layout and keep thing compact as possible.
Fo pin 5 and 6 at IC2....I can't see that they are linked together?:-/

DeleteGotcha! Double link is now removed.
DeleteThanks for taking a look, Denis!

Deletehey Chris! Don't forget to move the top leg of the 470k resistor left to IC3 down one row. It is now a 3 row resistor....
DeleteYep, should be good to go now, thanks.
Delete@Chris, please report back once built :)
SIr the 470k res you mentioned here is the res below right side of ic2?
DeleteI mean ic1

DeleteAwesome Chris! Much appreciated. Tagged.
DeleteThat's great, so how do you like it ? Any squeal issue ?

DeleteFyi this is the pedalpcb schematic. Traced from my own pathos. Its the wampler triple wreck with a capacitor changed.
ReplyDeleteCool. I'll have to try it on my Triple Wreck. It has a 1nf where the 330pf in the middle right is on this one. More/less mids?
DeleteI see another difference on the Pedalpcb schematics. The 6.8k on the bottom left here is a 470k on the TW, as are all the other VREF resistors.
