the gain pot is indeed wired backwards according to the layout. I kept it that way, to change it you'd just switch the double connection to lug 2&3 right?
It is an Electra, the gain is changing the bias on the collector. You might get scratching and popping from the gain knob, since it is actually touching the dc current. Really though, there are two basic single transistor boost stages you'll see, the two transistor biased stage like the lpb1, and the feedback resistor like the Electra (the Big Muff actually uses both types at different stages.
Fired right up with no problems, nice work!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Tagged.
DeleteI know this is marked as verified but the gain pot connections are reversed on the layout, correct?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. There was no lug numbering in the schematic. I think Wierd(er) have to confirm this.

ReplyDeleteThanks for confirming this. layout is updated.
DeleteIs there a schematic for this one.?
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly putting this one together. Coming from a place of complete ignorance, I'm wondering if it's based on an Electra?

ReplyDeleteGreat answer. Thank you

ReplyDeleteHere it is. Sounds great. A bit more hairy than the speaker cranker. The controls are very vague and not doing much. Could easily be a one knob pedal.
Thank you! ๐๐๐
Yeah, I was thinking that looking at the knobs before and after the diodes. It's like the 'close door' buttons on elevators.
DeleteThe buttons on elevators probably do more
