I very much want to build this. If anyone else has - please let me know your thoughts or maybe link a video of it! I will build it after I make a bit of money for parts. Always loved the idea of a real spring reverb pedal. Yisssss!
I've never seen this before.... Is it kind of like the Surfy bear? A Fender reverb unit using FETs instead of valves? In the demo, it's a small box... Is it a tiny spring reverb unit?
I just built this and it sounds really really good! Initially, I used these transistors: Q1/Q5 - J113 Q2 - 2n2222a Q3/4- BC184c I was getting a signal, but the reverb mix was weak. I studied the schematic and, using an audio probe, I found that Q2 was not “swinging”, so I switched it for a 2n3704 (I had to bend the leads since it’s ECB). This thing started howling with reverb! Using the trimmer, I got it to unity gain and it’s quite luscious. I had recently built the “Box of Hall”, which I boxed up. It’s also a great pedal. Once I box this one up, I’ll make some comparisons, but as of now, I favor this one for its more natural reverb. Thanks again Fuzz Head!!!
Hi, awesome job. Could I send in a request to update it for the latest version of this? https://moodysounds.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/analog-reverb-kit-eng-2c.pdf Thank you
This is my fav spring tank driver circuit. As much as I want to volunteer to do this drawing, I don't know if I could handle it. Bjorn's circuit schematics are hand scribbled (and I do mean SCRIBBLED) and after comparing the v1.2 with the v2 you linked here, I think I'd be out of my depths to try... I think we are going to have to leave this one up the Fuzzhead himself.
First I would like to thank you Fuzzhead for sharing this layout. But after build this, the mix pot is so weak that is unusable. Could anyone help me to get the amount of reverb right? I used the sames transistors as per the layout same values all well done.

ReplyDeleteI can't fine a proper demo for it, just a short soundclip...

Ignore me, I've found listings for the kit!
ReplyDeleteI may be out of my depth with this one....
One day ...

Hi Magus, thank you for your reply, I will try to order 1x 2N3704 for Q2 and 2x BC184C for Q3/Q4. Hope it works, thank you again!!!
DeleteAre you using sockets? Try swapping transistors?
ReplyDeleteHi Brian, Yes, and already tried different transistors. Will try the ones I mentioned above.
DeleteIf you look at the specs, it’s a general purpose 100-300 HFE, 50v, 625m, so a 2n3904 would substitute the 2n3704?
