Devi Ever Soda Meiser / Vintage Fuzz Master

  1. Great fuzz. Soda meiser is fatter and has more sustain than vintage fuzz master (which is a little more gatey and with more octave character I think). Careful with 2n2907a pinout, it's supposed to be same package as MPSA18 (at least mine are xD)

    1. Agreed! This one is still a fun a fuzz. Bear in mind that Devi used TO-18 metal can transistors for the 2N2907, hence the pinout...

      BTW, Pedro, I got your message. I'll write back once I get back from work romorrow. :-)

    1. You can but you'll end up with "Chaos Mode" only...

  3. Wouldn't a jumper from f to g switch to non chaos mode

    1. Good catch! Yes, thats how to do it for a "normal" mode circuit only.

  4. Ok, just finished this. All seems fine!
    (Hard for me to verify how close it is to the deal....sounds like a thick slightly gated fuzz, then sounds likes a big squished sizzle when you flip the switch?)

    Thank you!!!!

  6. Could you wire a switch to flip between Soda Meiser and Vintage Fuzzmaster? I guess the base would be wired straight in and the switch would flip the orientation of the C & E?

    1. I did a crude trasnsitor mode for this years ago. I used a 3PDT toggle switch and soldered it up like this:

      Firsly, leave Q4 off the board...

      14D-> Sw 4
      14E-> Sw 5
      14F-> Sw 6

      Q4 col-> Sw 1
      Q4 ba-> Sw 2
      Q4 em-> Sw 3
      Thats the Soda meiser mode...

      And VFM mode is like this
      Q5 em-> Sw 7
      Q5 ba-> Sw 8
      Q5 col-> Sw 9

      Be forewarned though, it will have a loud pop once you flip the switch since there is DC current involded...

  7. I just used a socket in q4, but I wasn't too in love with the vintage fuzz master

  8. I built this a while back and wasn't thrilled. Tried it again today. I like it. Especially with the volume rolled back and the fuzz turned back a hair. I like Q4 flipped too. Hard to choose. If I box it I may stick that switch mod on it and omit the stock switch. I can barely make sense of that mode.
