BJF Honey Beest

  1. Im getting oscillation when the nature all the way and the gain cranked. I compared the layout with the schematic and it's right. Ive swapped out the 3130 for an op07 to no avail. I know it's basically the honey bee with an extra fet stage but i cant understand why the led wont control the opamp from oscillating. I built a different layout previously and it did the same thing. Thoughts?

    1. I had problems with this type of "Nature" control in the past although in a completely different circuit, Bearfoot Pink Purple Fuzz. It is basically a "2-in-1" gain control, CCW is boost the signal at the beginning of the circuit at the op amp. CW it boost higher frequencies amplified by Q2. The problem I had with PPF was oscillation caused by a bleedtrrough through the Nature pot from the last gain stage back into the first gain stage... It COULD be the same problem with your build. You can desolder one of the outer lugs of the Nature pot to see if the oscillation stops.

    2. I'll try that. I've built the honey bee, silver bee, syod, drd, model h, and model g. All use some form of that nature control and this one is the only I've had issues with. I wondervif the originsl trace is accurate? Not to say I couldnt have made a mistake Ive triple checked this layout against the scheme and with my build and it's wacked.

    3. I've revisited this one and couldn't find a schematic anywhere. I exchanged the 22u from nature 1 for a 2.2u like the hot rodded version and it seems to be working fine.
