Thanks for posting this, I might have a go at it but it's not going to be in the immediate future. I've just had a look at his website, there's a lot of interesting projects on there, none of which I need, but all of which I want.
Built this today and everything works fine. The only problem is when I go past 3/4 of the travel on the time knob I get a white noise in the output. Otherwise you can tag it verified. Need to go back and check my work. Sorry I can't tell what ldr I used, I made up a bunch of octocouplers a while ago and did'nt mark what they were.
built this up tonight and the delay works. I haven't looked at the schematic yet but on initial startup my bypass led blew up. the delay sounds like other pt2399 delays and the ducking led isn't doing anything at the moment. I'll keep poking around and see if I can get it fully working.
Yes after checking my build I found the led ldr part of the circut not working .I'm not a good trouble shooter but I found that the led positive is marked wrong on the board. but when pluged in so it will light it kills any delay in the effect. Tryed to trace it from the scematic but got confused. I hope this helps anyone with better skills.
Hey, just been looking at the schematic and gerber files. The pinout on the TL074 doesn't seem correct for your layout as far as I can tell? The LEDs appear to be on pin 8 and 9 where the schematic calls for 13 and 14.
Tell me to shut up if I'm wrong though, I bought all the parts to try this out and just trying to get my head around things.
I knew the tl074 signal path was not correct. I kept getting confused trying to trace it. So I built a sperate board following the scematic and wired it in to the first board. I unpluged the tl074 on the main board. Now it works fine
Glad you got it working. But as Ian said, pins 8 and 9 perform the same function as 13 and 14. Anders uses different pins from the schematic to make the stripboard layout as small as possible. https://microcontrollerslab.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/tl074-pinout-diagram.png
Hmm, I've compared the schematic and the layouts numerous times now and cant spot anything suspicious.... As Tom and Ian already stated, the channels in a TL074 are interchangeble.
Please read the build docs. It is a delay. But the tl074 controls the attack thru a compression circuit. If you remove the tl074 it will still work as a delay
I've had a quick look and I think the link from IC1 pin 2 should be at pin 1 to connect to C3 (10uf cap). Not checked over the rest yet, time for work!!
tryed it with the fix but the compression still dose not work. For some reason The polarity at D5 is revrsed. and I don't know if it should be, but the bypass led is looped with D5. Hope this helps the trouble shooting

ReplyDeleteWent to the link and had a listen. Sounds really good. Not too squishy on the comp side. Need to build this and the Echoplexus - gotta get to work.
ReplyDeleteI finally downloaded DLC. Starting out with some small circuits. Have a new appreciation for all the larger circuits you do here. Whew!
ReplyDeleteWhat would duck ind. + & - connect to off-board? Surely not another LED..

Pin 8 & 9 are the same as 13 & 14

DeleteI understand that, but as it is, the layout dose not work, and I cant figure it out. Has anyone built it as shone and the compresser worked?
DeleteIt's not a compressor, it's a delay effect.

I'll keep looking...

ReplyDeleteWell spotted! Yup C3 should connect to pin 1 of IC1.
DeleteThe layout is updated.

ReplyDeleteChecked through the schematic and the updated layout is good. Have a look through your build for errors, perhaps a wrong value resistor somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI did the fix as Ian suggested and my build definetly has a modulation like effect now on the delay signal. sounds good. very good.
