As a phaser it's probably far too complicated but it's a nice sounding phaser. I personally don't like how hemmed in I feel when using a traditional phase shifter. And this goes beyond phase. I love it for rotary stuff and the ring mod is fun for noise. The filter function is a little counterintuitive but I like it after a fuzz. And with a little added boost from the level control, it can sound pretty violent.
I think i've never seen a worst and more difficult offboard wiring in my whole life. 4 pots, 5 toggle switches and a rotary.
Well, maybe Sabro's Meatball with five pots, 4 rotaries and five jacks (a real nightmare) is at the same level, and ended up fed to the teeth of this effect.
I'd love to build this phaser at slow pace, but I know myself and if I start, I will not stop until is working, and this would mean a sleepless night... or two!
So i' ll give this board a miss and send my best wishes to whom dares to deal with this monster
Just watched the PGS demo. Pretty amazing array of sounds. Does a particularly good univibe effect in the 4 stage mode. Good vibrato too.
ReplyDeleteIt's great. I built one from the tagboardeffects layout years ago. Worth the build IMO, but it is a monster.
DeleteCool. No matching of transistors required like the old MXR phase circuits? Thanks
