and this one is verified , add 100nf cap and 1k resistor from gain1 to pin2 & there you go! you could also add a dpdt switch, put the two leds on one side middle lugs two wires to board and add germanium/silicone whatever to the other two lugs for different clipping options
magus, the 100nF that you say,is between vcc and ground? correct? And missing 10K resistor between pin5 opAmp and VRef, if you follow the schema. Thanks. Verified but the Distortion stay not so long. Thanks for the layout
i built it without that 10k resistor ( it's easy to add) but i have good distortion, long sustain, np! ( check your soldering and wires) and yes the 100nf cap is between vcc and ground
remove that 10k asap! lol! i added it thinking it is on the schelmatic so... well adding that 10k will result in bad sustain and diminishing in output! just remove the 10k and you'll be a happy camper!
Thanks magus. I get a goed distortion but not realy a good sustain, maybe components problems. Do you use 3mm Led or 5mm Led? If that makes the diference? I will do more reseach on it.
d8 is ground sorry , i have made this in perfboard i have to adjust my thinking for stripboard, excusez moi; put the 100nf at a9 and d9 , size of leds does not make a difference, 3mm is easiest to place on board ( i used 3mm leds blue & yellow) reflow your solders it can make a big difference! ( do not place the extra 10k )
Not sure if this counts as a verification.
ReplyDeleteNice easy build.
Fired it up, got a good solid chunky E5 powerchord out of it, then it spluttered and died...
I'm thinking the error may be between chair and soldering iron, but will try to see if it works later when I can mess with it a little.
100nf cap missing vcc
ReplyDeletegain1 1k resistor must go to ic pin 2

ReplyDelete100nf at a8 and c8 ( i forgot to mention)

DeleteAnd by the way c8 is not ground, are you sure you use a8 and c8 for the 100nF? Thanks

Deleteok thanks, 10K not placed. I wil try reflow my solders.
