Awesome, thx for the schematic(s)! Ordering some parts right away! V2 also incoming? (seems to be identical to V1 besides the outboard clipping switch)
Hi!It looks like it has some different cap values..10nf bottom instead of 6n8, but the others i don`t know.I see a 3n3, another 10nf and a 18nf?Different IC also..
Hope I can verify this layout this weekend (ordered a lot of components). Fuzzhead could you do a layout for the Prince Of Tone?#daretoask https://pcbguitarmania.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Prince-Of-Tone-v1.2.pdf
Yes, both Prince of Tone and King of Tone is one the list. Attempted to do layouts for these a few weeks ago but wasn't satisfied with them. Will do another try for sure!
You can verify this one! https://ibb.co/6N4Zk1c The dipswitch clipping options are really hard to hear and really subtile, I guess it's more a 'feel' thing. I do hear a difference when they are both 'On', the sound gets more compressed. The gain switch adds a lottt of gain to the circuit. I don't think the Timmy shines at a high amount of gain, it gets bright and brittle pretty fast. But great layout of a great circuit! Thank you mr Fuzzhead!
Wow, thanks a lot! very cool of you to tackle this one. Yes, the DIP switch toggles between symmetrical and asymmetrical soft clipping. The difference can be quite subtle for sure.

ReplyDeleteNot sure about V2. No verified schematic around but it seem to be almost identical to V1.
Deletehttps://ibb.co/K7NpTHV those capacitor-values are different @ this v3 gutshot right?

Deletewhat does the 2nd pole on the dip sw do? (pin 2 and 3 if you read it as opamp.)
ReplyDeleteThe second pole does nothing.:-) I used 2 poles since it was used in original Timmy. You can use 1-pole switch as well.
DeleteDid some reading...
DeleteIt seems like the circuit went through a number of revisions so I guess the values isn't carved in stone...

Great, I was thinking I was either blind or just stupid or both ;)

Tagged and thanks for the gutshot!
Np! Least I could do after building so many of your lay-outs! Oh and BTW -> 10 links insteads of 9 ;)
DeleteLove this one! Subbed the 4148’s for Bat41’s for some extra fluff and it sounds epic!

ReplyDeleteMaybe pedalpcb make the wrong schematic in treble pin 1 and 2... Pin 1 must be unconnected or parallel to pin 2... But this layout do the best..
ReplyDeleteI see The Tone Geek has produced a reproduction of the Jan Ray with some extra features. Looks cool. Might be worth taking a look at.
