Having built well over a hundred pedals, I would rank this one right up there. love it. BTW tried many other transistors including all the above suggestions and after sourcing 14's they were truly the only ones that worked.
Built this per the layout, sounds great for the most part but for some reason the 2-octaves down setting is giving me more like an octave and a half. Double & triple checked my build, not sure what's up here. Anyone experienced this?
i built mine tested it and worked flawlessly . wired it into a box with 3pdt foot switch and absolutly nothing is there a certain 3pdt wiring for this or have i just been too away with the fairys and done a retarded thing ?
Apologies if this is something you have all ready investigated, but the issue you are having is often times the result of some part of the circuit grounding out improperly. How did you mount the actual veroboard to the box? Did you cover the potentiometers with plastic dust caps? I've taken to using often unnecessary measures like putting heatshrink over all my exposed offboard solder joints, as well as using double layers of padded mounting tape in order to prevent unwanted grounds against the enclosure.
Also - I'm sure you didn't mean it as such, but using the word "retarded" like that is pretty offensive.
Just finished this one. Gave it a quick test, Very cool, reminds me of a Parasit build.
ReplyDeleteThats great Mike! Was on the fence building this. Will tag it.
DeleteThis is a beaut, better than Robot Devil with the blend pot
ReplyDeleteAny suggest replacement for the mpsa14? (unable to source)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure other NPN darlingtons would work. Like MPSA12, MPSA13 or BC517?

ReplyDeleteNothing special required as far as wiring a 3PDT is concerned, just double check what you have done. Some handy tips in the link below:
