Lastgasp Art Laboratories Tone Mosaique

900 post. Phew. I think it is time for a couple of weeks break do deal with "outside world" issues.:-o. Will still log in here now and then and eventually upload something if something really interesting shows up.

But here is a cool design from Lastgasp Art traced by Deadend FX, a bitcrucher/tremolo,/ringmod/envelope follower...thing.  Schematic is avaiable HERE.

  10. Verified. This thing is nuts and is a must for anyone into zany, weird stuff. Its like a stutter trem meets a kinda usable ring mod. I used a 5mm white LED and LDR with great results. The rate pot seems to be backwards, unless they did it that way on purpose.

    1. Thanks Mike! It is now tagged. I'll check the Rate pot connections but it might take a while but it is an easy fix if you want faster rate clockwise.

  11. I’ve tried to get this to work but no luck. Does the 22k leg go to the base of Q1? And I’m using 2x 220u caps in parallel for the 470u, but I can’t tell if it connects from ground to D2 or not.

The led lights only when Pixel Rate is below halfway but doesn’t modulate at all. Anybody else encounter this?

    1. Yes the 22k goes to base of q1.
The 470u is going into rows L and M.

    2. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong, but the q1 is not modulating the LED and nothing is coming out of the output of the LF398 output. I thought I had a fake IC so I bought from a different supplier that looks different, still no dice:( if it’s verified then it must be user error, I’m just dreading rebuilding from scratch again

  12. Got this working with a white LED and tayda LDR. Sounds hectic! The only issue is that with the blend at full, it doesn't quite reach unity gain. I fixed this by swapping out R17 for 9.1K and R18 for 18K, now it sounds good :)
Might experiment with trying to get it a little less choppy but I'll see.

  13. I got this working, too, but it’s so weird I think working is not the right word. Hooked up an expression pedal, too. Be aware that the range of the Pixel Rate knob is extremely dependent on source voltage. 9v vs. 9.6v affects the range. Wonder why they didn’t use a regulator in this design?

  14. Would adding an expression input be a good idea, for pixel rate or for sens? What do you think guys? Congrats bro!

  15. I found a mistake. The resistor connecting 8 pin IC3 and 7 pin IC2 should be 100 Ohm.

  16. I'll try to be polite, but i've found more than 10 boards tagged as "Verified", including this one, while they have many errors. This one has :reversed rate pot, wrong value in at least one resistor (and no "small difference, from 100r to 100k), hi-lo switch pole 2 is reversed, there' s no expresion pedal jack wiring.... And you call it" Verified"? Verified that makes noise, o suppose....

Let's try to be more serious. I don't mind check schematics and and find errors. I've verified dozens of circuits that many people has enjoyed from many years. And of course, it's no serious point errors to have the board 100% funcional, and get no response and see the "verified" board with no change and people telling that works great 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    1. Hey Javi - I don't presume to speak for everyone here, but let me first say that I appreciate your diligence in going over schematics and such, regardless of whether or not something is tagged as "Verified"

But as far as the nature of this blog is concerned - this is not some kind of regulated trade publication. It is a hobby, run by one single person in their spare time. And an unpaid one at that - Anders/Fuzzhead receives no compensation and has no advertisers on this site.

Still - this is a community and when you have many folks chipping in on a group effort, sometimes it is not going to be a perfect or precise effort to say the least. The best any of us can do here before building is to read the comments, regardless of the verification status.

As I said before, I appreciate your diligence, but understand that what you are getting here is mostly the fruit of one person's spare time, nothing more. Builder beware, this is going to be a learning experience and the circuit may not work, regardless of what tags are applied. Thanks for reading. -Chris
