Fuzzhead Fx Red Sun Fuzz

This one started as an attempt to improve an obscure old japanese germanium fuzz circuit from the late 60s called Sekova FA II Fuzz which suffered from quite low output and lack of sustain. After some experimenting I removed the clipping diodes, tweaked the bias and added another gain stage upfront which is borrowed from Roland Bee Baa but with a germanium transistor. For transistor selection I found that these with low leakage and a hfe around 100 sounds good but it is worth experimenting with others especially for Q2 and Q3.

    1. Yes I did! Too bad there is too many missing values in the op amp part...but I'm very tempted to build the transistor section...

  4. Beast Fuzz! Used npn mp 38a. A lots of gain! So i made little dirty mod with 4148 diodes like muff

  5. germanium diodes works too, not so much gain but more dirty harmonics!

  6. Woow, I built this and I love it! I can see how this little beast resembles a Bee Baa, but it definitely has its own mojo, and a very tasteful tone control. Cheers Anders!
