  1. You can verify this, sounds amazing and spot on. Thanks for making a layout that fits in a 1590B.

  2. Hi.
I never built the Dr. Boogie, even if I thought about it many times, as well the DieFet, or the Bogner version or some other jfet emulator. I built directly the Triple Wreck, because in these jfet version often the eq section is not too much versatile or there are noise problems.

I met once a guy with a Dr. Boogie built by a friend, but it had to set it at very low gain, bass and mid at max and treble at min, else it sounded too harsh and fizz. It was nice, but weak, and not even close to a Mesa high gain distortion.

I guessed this kind of high gain emulator are kind of obsolete. Did you still find the Dr. Boogie a good pedal?

  4. Can I use bf244a instead of j201?

    1. Maybe, but it might not sound as high gain as with J201's. An equivalent search resulted in that BF244A is closer to 2N5457.

  6. I finish the board ,, on next hours I solder the pots for test ,,, I have one more question . The trimmers I set on full or with test sound I set it ?

    1. Generally you want to set the trimmers to half supply voltage, in this case 4,5v. Each trimmer is connected to Drain of Q1 and Q4. Q5 is a buffer so it don't need a trimmer.
But some people like a bit higher voltage like 5v but let your ears decide. It can take some time to dial it in but it usually a quite easy process if you have legit J Fets.

    2. So I finish and I disappointed ...it’s working . But it doesn’t have the wow gain ,,, it have some gain between Marshall 1974x and fender vibroverb 1964 ... ahah ahah , no it’s joke , I dialling those trimmers for an hour but the max gain isn’t max .. :( ... I use for diode the 1N5818. It’s the same right ? And tomorrow I check the voltages

    3. I check my battery and is bad . I replace with other ( not new but relatively good ) and the sound it’s better ... but I think to put 9v adapter for sure . Tomorrow I check the voltage . You say with 4.5v on Drain Is good . So I check all the Drain pins without the jfets or with ?

  9. hello all.... how should transistors have a voltage cut-off?

  10. what are the parameters of Vgs off?

  11. Hey guys, I just built this. The distortion sounds really good but I have to max out the volume just to get unity. Is that normal?

    1. No, it is not normal. You might have a tine solder bridge at the end of the circuit?
