  1. The 1K beside the 100n should be a 4.7k according to PedalPCB. Just built it up and it sounds great.

    1. Yeah it was wayyyyy too bright, I put that 4k7 in between gain and tone and it mellowed out

  2. I’ll verify if I swapped that 1k for a 4.7k or not, but I’ve verified that it works.

    1. Great! I'll fix 1k/4,7k reistor labels in a couple of days.

    2. Wait...I'm confused...it still says 1k??...or did I miss something???

  4. In led-clipping mode, my leds are not lighting up. Is the pedal supposed to be like this? Got the same 'issue' with the EQD Dunes. I do hear a sound difference though. (pedal sounds great)

  5. Depends on the current available through that part of the circuit. They don’t always light up but that does not mean they aren’t functioning as a diode.

    1. What MTK said. They don't necessarily light up when clipping the signal...

    2. Thx guys! The 'clipping' part got me confused.

    3. Alex what value you have used for CLR? thanks

  6. Guy's i'am new to whole subject.the 1K resistor between tone and gain trace should be 1 or 4k7.thanks

    1. I've used 4k7, sounds great

    1. Forget to mention earlier post ,i am using 9V battery to power up
may be that could be the problem.????

    2. For a start, the easiest way to locate any fault would meassure voltages at each pin of both ICs. If the voltages looks ok, I think you need to audio probe the circuit.

  8. Thank you fuzz i'LL try that.

  9. Hi fuzz i have noticed 100uf EL cap down below keep burning, i replaced it twice.i decide to call this pedal Fumes instead Plumes..ha...ha

  10. Ha! Suiting name I must say.:-)
Are you sure you had the the cap in the correct orientation?
Is the link right to it preperly soldered?
Have you checked the cuts under IC2?

    1. Thank you so much for your feedback, caps problem resolved now i am trying to resolve output signal issue. must say after so many builds this is the first time having similar issue.

  11. Fuzz after reading some comments i have changed 1K resistor between Tone Lug 1 and Gain lug 2 To 4K7 resistor Probably that could be the Issue?

  12. Hey fuzz ,Thanks for this layout all Fixed!!!

  14. Yeah, I think it’s basically an A taper and C taper on each end. Anders mentioned on another thread that the 20k value should be easy enough to find. 🤜

  15. I hate having so many comments on the recent comments board. It makes it keenly obvious that my life is pathetic. COL…is that a thing? “Crying out loud”

  16. I have three on order!

What's the point in a forum where nobody says anything?!?!?!

  17. Silly question of the day No. 243

    I have a giant spdt on-off-on switch...
It says on it 25A 12v.

I would love to use it in this pedal do people think it would be ok... It looks just like the small ones I would normally use but very big..

  18. I'm about to stick a huge switch in a Hudson Broadcast. I wanted a chunky one but this one is silly big. Just gotta chance it sometimes. If you're unsure for some reason just hook it up temporarily to make sure it works. Shouldn't be an issue.

  19. I'm actually thinking it might foul the bottom of the box which was a shame because it would have a looked cool as heck

  20. Hi...I'm just bumping this regarding the question about the 4k7 resistor....is the layout updated for this?

    ReplyDelete
  21. i finish it. and it great.. i use for boost it my jcm800 clone . but its too bright and the tone pot is on the 0 .. for reduce the bright , i change the 1k ( from tone1 and gain 2) with 4k7?

    ReplyDelete
  22. It appears that what you changed to 4k7 was not the 1K between Gain 2 and Tone 1 but instead the 1K to ground after the 100nf.

  23. What's the deal with TC1044 here? Any alternatives?

    ReplyDelete
  24. And W taper for tone? Are you kidding me ? :)

    ReplyDelete

    1. The ICL7660S is a drop-in replacement for the TC1044 in this case. And if you can't be bothered to source W-taper pots (which is totally fair, ha ha!), just try a B-taper and see how that treats you.

  25. Thanks for this one, fuzzhead! Built this one and it sounds pretty great with the clipping enabled. I am getting a squeal if max'ed out and using the other 2 switch settings...but I can easily turn down the tone or volume to clean it up.

Pretty excited to play around with this one though I may put it head-to-head against that Lemon Amps Night Screamer to see which one I prefer. So far - I like that screamer a lot (the Fat Switch is pretty great) but I need to spend more time with this one & get it boxed.
