Basic Audio Spooky Tooth

  1. It can get extremely fuzzy (and a little noisy). I used some low gain 2n2222's.

  2. I only have one 250k pot, so what do you what value do you think is best to substitute the fuzz pot for? 100k or 500k? Does it even matter?

  3. I have been searching for this holy grail of fuzz for years now! Stoked to build this, thank you for your hard work!

  4. Thanks for putting this together! Finished wiring up today and planning to box up this evening. Didn't have a 330pf but used a 270pf. Sounds pretty great but "Texture" potentiometer is adding a weird oscillation & a lot of noise as it makes it past 9 O'Clock on the dial. I switched out PN2222's for 2N2222A's and may keep experimenting...it sounds a little less shrill but the oscillation is still there as Texture pot is turned up. Completely usable and very crunchy fuzz (I'll just have to keep the Texture down) but wondering if anyone else had this issue? I'm going to double check by resistor values shortly.

    1. Whoops! Figured it out! Left off the 100uf radial cap. Just soldered it on & it sounds incredible. I'm definitely going to try the other Basic Audio pedals. I am really impressed with the sound on this one.

    2. Love the Basic Audio. The Fuzz Mutant is killer. Probably the best interpretation of the Os Mutantes Fuzz. The Scarab is classic (but every layout I've tried is slightly off). Their Pep is good...it's all good.
