  1. Does anyone know on what circuit this was based?

    1. It's supposed to emulate the sound of a Fuzz Face into a cranked Fender, and indeed the schematic shows the gain stage is a FF, and the tone stack is a Fender one. A buddy of mine picked up a real one and said it was fine, but neither cleaned up nor went as hairy as a basic FF.

    2. I wouldn't have guessed that. But yeah, I see it now. I just watched Jamie Stillman use it as a bass fuzz. Sounded cool in that application.

  2. I think the cut in row Q needs to move to the left of the 100k.

    1. noticed that, too. but Gain 3 needs to also connect to the emitter of Q3 so it seems like you could just get rid of that cut altogether.

  3. Verified. I haven't been building much and as a result I've been depressed. I guess I'm addicted. Anyway, this circuit sounds nice. It kind of reminds me of a three band Rat. Not a lotta flex in the biasing either. Dial it in so that it doesn't gate when cleaning up. HNY all. Thanks for the layout as always Anders. Hope everyone is well.

  4. I built this one and I'm getting no output. I've been over it thrice to make sure everything is in correctly, done the standard gap checks for solder bridges. Are we 100% sure this is verified, before I tear it down and rebuild it again? lol

    1. Yup, it's verified. Sometimes setting it aside for a while and coming back to it with fresh eyes helps. I've missed some really obvious issues with my builds in the past. And frankly more experience doesn't seem to improve my results. Haha. But yes the layout does work. Check the pinouts of your transistors. I have some 2n3904's that don't match the diagram above.

    2. That's a good point, I just threw the 2N3904s in without checking them. I'll have to do that. Thanks Tom!

    3. I've also built this one and can confirm it works

    4. Ok, thanks. I'll go over mine again to see where I messed up. I was really excited about this one because the demos sound awesome.
