you can tag this one as verified. Built it up and it rumbles. I recommend socketing the BJTs, or at the very least Q2 - I tried both 5088 and MPSA18 and this thing made uncontrollable noise at any setting. Swapped Q2 with a 2n3904 and it is super controllable now. Gates if you mute the strings and stays muted until you hit them again, but will squelch and bubble if you let the notes ring out and decay.
I actually settled on a mix of MPSA18 and 2n3904 - I also did end up putting this in parallel with the Octavella (minus the feedback knob) and together they sound so awful. I'll do a demo some time soon and tag you.
I had 2 Gomorrahs once and I recall the first GMR had less output volume than the second one, but the first sounded a bit different on the SUB setting: It was "more woody and a tiny bit less synthy". Overtone setting was more or less the same on both. Maybe some minor component tollerances?
