  1. Well done! I will follow, as soon as I get those 13700 (God, how I hate those bastards!)...

  2. Just thinking: can I throw CA3280 in place of LM13700?

    1. I'm afraid you can't. CA3280 has totally different pinout. So might need to order the bastards;-)

  3. Thanks. Life is a bitch. :(

  4. Hey Guys ;) I've counted and recounted but I only find 61 cuts... Maybe my eyes trick me or the last 62th cut is missing or hidden ? Any clue ? Thks !

    1. yes, it should be 61 cuts. I also found a link and a cut that isn't need bellow IC4. So it is now 60 cuts.

  5. Oh cool :) Thanks for the update !

  6. Thank you very, very much, for another great layout! Works wonderfoul! Even with the bastards... :O)

  7. I need to debug.. I'm getting nothing much other than slight phasing and lots of clock ticks

    1. found it.. one cut not all the way made.. which is odd because I checked with a meter before I even put my jumpers in...

    1. Oh shit! It appears that I messed up with Rate 3 connection when I last updated the layout. Move it from pin to pin 7 at IC4. Layout has been updated (for the last time....hopefully)

    2. The p/v switch is working, my mistake, I will try the new connection of rate 3

  9. I believe that old conection to pin 1 was the right

    1. Had to open mine up to see the Rate connection. Yews....it is to pin 1 indeed. Are your build working as it should now?

  10. Current layout is great! I believe it's labeled 200625?

Haven't boxed it yet, but no ticking or other noise. Just sweet phaser and pitch vibrato tones.

    Thanks!

  11. Hello Guys, i build this one today and It works good as far as i can tell.
Range middle position seems to have no phasing thats why i am confused why its an on/Off/on switch? Or should there be phasing aswell?
The sweep Pot ist very subtile.
    Thx for the layout

    1. Yeah, the middle position bypasses the LFO function so you can manually change the filters by rotating the pots....sort of as with an eq pedal.

    2. Thanks for the Info. I hope there will be some more non distortion pedals in the Future, i really enjoyed building this one ;-)

    3. is there any particular circuits you are thinking about that needs a layout? Just keep in mind that I'm not there yet with flangers or analog delays....

    4. I have never Seen your answer ;-) the dod FX 86 Chorus for example, but i cant find a schematic. I found one for the dod fx65 Chorus which Sounds great aswell. But i am still very much a noob, thats why i am Not able to create my own Stripboard Designs.
You could Check my answer to the the fulltone ultimate octave

    5. I'll check out these...but if they are bucket brigade chips in it, it is going to be quite big...

Missed your comment on the Fulltone Octave....

  12. hey. spent all night building this. the phaser side is fine but when i switch to vibrato all that seems to happen is the phaser is less bassy and the depth knob acts like a volume. any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. it seems that it behaves as it should. In vibrato mode, Depth control acts as volume control.

Yes, i feel that there is a slight bass cut in vibrato mode. I don't know if the real deal has it but the switch basically switches of the feeback signal between the op amp and the OTA stages.

  13. Built it...love it !
Everything works and no annoying noise. Very pleased with how it sounds, I paid my hommage to EVH playing (bad) Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love intro
I also wired a rate LED loke on the original.
Thanks fuzzhead for anither great layout :)

  14. Made it and it works super well, Thanks!

  15. Just finished this and think it’s great. One of the best mod pedals I’ve ever used!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Made it, too! Thanks for the layout!

  17. I like this one too.. I built it and the whetstone phaser (on tagboardeffects) they are similar yet different. whetsone gives you option overload.. this one too.. sometimes I just go to the smallstone or phase 45 for one knob goodness!!

  18. How would I go about wiring a rate LED?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This is awild guess but you could try connecting LED+ to B30 and LED- to ground.

  19. Sorted it!! To attach a rate LED connect + to X1 and - to ground

  20. Just I finish that ,,, I have problem .. I put on my breadboard and the signal pass little distorted , like appear and without phase . I get metrics .. on the 4th pin of tl074 have 8.90vdc as well but on 11th pin have 0 vdc .. and the other ic on all pins have 0vdc … I put out the veroboard from breadboard and I try to cut all the lines ( between lines ) .. next I put only the 9vdc wire and the ground on the power supply and I get new metrics .. tl074 4th pin have the same ( 8.90vdc ) but the 11th have 4.5vdc , and the other i.c.s some pins have 8vdc some others 4.5 vdc ,,, I don’t check the sound because I’m tired and I go to sleep .. but tell me on the tl074 must have at the 4th pin 9vdc and on 11th pin -9vdc and all other pins 0… right ? And the other I.c. ( lm13700) what metrics do I have ? Thank you

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The TL074 should have almost 9v at pin 4 and 0v at pin 11. The other pins should be close to 4,5v. For the LM13700s, pin 6 should have 0v while pin 11 should be close to 9v. Not sure about the other pins but I'm pretty sure they should be close to 4,5v.

  21. I get my metrics .. first I take my dremel and with copper brush I clean all lines and I check with magnifying glass.. so now the background of my board is clear and 100% without tiny bridges between lines . I put again on my amp and nothing .. only when I playing hard , hear a little but distorted output … so for tl074 the metrics are . Pin
    1- 8.20v
    2- 7.10v
    3- 7.00v
    4- 8.74v
    5- 7.00v
    6- 8.20v
    7- 8.20v
    8- 7.00v
    9- 7.00v
    10- 6.00v
    11- 0.10v
    12- 6.00v
    13- 8.00v
    14- 6.00v
But when I touch the ic , the values change , like on the pin 1 some times shows 0.20v ..

I’m think the fail is on my rail socket for ics..for this board I’ll buy some new rail sockets and it’s not like the old one .. by the way I buy those old one and I change that new … Because when I touch the ic

  22. EVERYTHING IS PERFECT !!! .. it’s worked and the sound is amazing 🤩. I’m playing the ain’t talk about love , and is f@ing awesome !!!!! the problem was finally in socket rails of I.c.s , I change all with better quality and is amazing sound . Thanx again fuzzhead !!!

  25. Hmm, I´m just counting 34 links. Am I wrong?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Misread the two links at the 1u as one...my fault! Well, I got it working but also recognize the volume-drop.

      Delete
    2. Fixed the volume-drop: Change the 10k, row 4 (up left / R5 in the schematic at pcb) to lower values. I tried 5k6 -which has a nice boost to- it but I guess everything between 5k and 8k2 will work depending on your preferences. This is a great sounding modulation-effect, indeed!

  26. Built this on breadboard and it works! The only problem is that it has a volume drop. Is there a way to put (or replace a transistor) a trimmer to act as volume so I can dial it to unity?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just built this, and wow that was a fun and challenging project! Solder bridges having been eliminated, everything is working well. This is a great sounding circuit with a lot of variations in tone and effect. Thank you so much Anders and to everyone who experimented with this circuit before me. Keep them coming!
