A question about 2n3904's please. So many circuits call for this transistor... I'm increasingly finding the each time I buy them the HFEs seem to be getting lower and lower (I received some today in the low 80s and none higher than 200)
It was my belief this was a relatively high hfe transistor? What are people's thoughts and is it important in a circuit like this?
Thats very low mate, they usually come in at around 250 but I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've made some great fuzz pedals using silicon trannies with an hfe of around 80
I had a feeling this was going to show up any minute. Thank you! Now I'm going to be a big nerd and go find myself some D9Ks.
ReplyDeleteOh man!!!!

ReplyDelete10m resistor in the collector-base of q1?! wowza! I can only find these in carbon 1/2watt format, does this seem about right?
ReplyDeletenm, found the metal film versions!
