If I remember correctly, the designer of the PAL800 was basically trying to make a really close copy of the JCM preamp section w jfets in the place of preamp tubes. The above layout is from an overdrive pedal that Marshall themselves released quite recently.
checked some demos, not my thing lol but yes it is indeed an overdrive pedal and true i built the pal few years back, it had a lot of trimpots but also a 3 band eq (which is very handy btw) maybe someone likes this enough to verify it . i did my part :D
I built one following this layout and then verified it's souding great. Like as the Youtube demos of the original one. Thanks for this beautiful layout!
is there something "special" about this jcm800 emulator compared to the pal 800 jcm ?

ReplyDeleteWonder how far off the 1959 pedal is from this. Could be they use a common architecture, but change values to approximate different sounds?
