In order to get symmetrical soft clipping you could just move the diode network (D1, D2, D3, D4 including cuts under D3 and D2) one step to the right and move the 6,8k resistor to the left of the network. (F12-A12) I hope that’s helpful.
Excuse me if i`m totally ignorant but the schematic shows 2 sets of soft clipping arrays (4 each). Maybe with the switch they cancel each other out and produce hard clipping?
The top 4 diodes are soft clipping and the bottom 4 is hard clipping. The switch turns on either soft or hard clipping or no clipping (middle position). There is no way to turn on soft and hard clipping simultaneously.
Good catch on the extraneous jumper on column 3. I'm willing to bet that is just leftover from an edit that Anders made. When drawing these, I've totally gone back later and discovered cuts I no longer needed once I moved stuff around, etc...
Yes K15 needs a cut, the clipping diodes D1-D4 is asymmetrical. It might be nice but it doesn’t correlate to the schematic. Jumper I3 to E3 goes nowhere.
Also for anyone (besides me) that is curious this seems nearly identical if you look at the picture of the board. Same amount of 10nf caps, same swithces and diodes, but only 2 100nf, no 1uf and maybe a transistor up top? https://decibelics.com/product/rivus/
Indeed! Doesn't that company just do other people's pedals anyway?
I really don't want to start the whole "is cloning ethical" debate for the millionth time, but maybe folks don't realise how many pedal companies sell the same OEM board in different housings. For example, I know that a bunch of the Animals pedals are just Moen pedals in kawaii enclosures.
Hi everyone! I finished it as per the diagram and it works! Sounds lovely!! I omitted the Jumper I3 to E3. Compared to the protein blue side is gainier and more versatile! Thanks Fuzzhead!!
Hi Fuzzhead!! Thanks for that!! Sorry if i overdid the request thing... :) Be well!!
ReplyDeleteNeeds a cut at K15 then its verified.
ReplyDeleteThanks for verifying. The layout is updated and tagged.
DeleteIndeed i see the Jumper I3 to E3 that goes nowhere though

ReplyDeleteHi, is there a way of requesting layouts? I would love a layout of "beavis audios - 4 knob rat" - thanks for all the hard work too!

You could probably go in circles with that, but simply they’re providing effect pcb’s for people who can’t build them for themselves?
