I'm anxious to try these Victory circuits. I never have to request anything. You read my mind. I'm in love with the G3 and the DR103. There's something about that HIWATT thing. The Catalinbread WIIO is another favorite.
Verified. Noisy and loud as hell but it is indeed "kraken". The EQ on this one is odd. I had to take a look that it was in fact correct but in the end it does sound like the demos. The Gain pot doesn't quite seem to trim off much as you back it counter but that's the only concern. I looked at the schematic and it seems correct. Could be a bad connection on my end. Thanks!!!
Nah, just typical high-gain stuff. Once it's in a box it'll probably quiet down. More of a fuzzy high gain drive than an amp though. And I wish the gain tapered off in a more effective way and didn't kill the signal at minimum. Maybe I'll tinker. But it's interesting.
Finished building this out tonight while I wait for my big vero sheets for the TC pedals - works as expected, excellent distortion pedal. Put in the effects loop of my Marshall and used as a preamp it's not bad - but sounds best into the front with an overdrive pushing it. Mids knob is pretty dramatic - goes from flat to a very pronounced scoop. Not as much gain as the name might suggest, but still nuts. Subbed IC3 for an LT1054 and added a cut between pins 1 and 8.
Watching this demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm6nA9qS6dU this pedal seems not extreme, but enough high gain. Anyway, in the bypass, the amp clean channel is not so clean, and maybe the pedal push it, too. And the PRS pickups are hot, too, I think, so... all that gain.

ReplyDeleteI'm keen to give this one a go too. ICs are on order along with the diodes, kinda excited 😁

ReplyDeleteI listened to another demo. I think it must be correct. It's irregular but pretty shweet.
DeleteIs it... noisy? You mean too much and badly noisy?

DeleteWopwop. Thangs for verifying!
DeleteVery noisy indeed, perhaps except for the be-od the most noisy pedal ever... I recommend a good gate for this one...

DeleteThis sounds great! I'm really liking these circuits. Looking forward to the Copper and Duchess when the schematics are released.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed a slight high frequency whine at a certain gain level. Swapping the 1044 for an ICL7660SCPA fixed it.
