I was boring, so I drawn my own layout, too, in case I need a distortion that it's simple but more elaborated than my DOD250 clone. Indeed my version includes more switch to change the clipping, the input stage boosting, and the overall gain. I should to test it on breadboard before to build it, if I'll never do it, because thought it's been tracking I still not so certain about the wiring of the Volume and the Presence pots. Though, in my version those are already reversed to avoid the tone effect caused by the Volume setting.
Great! Do you find that the Volume control influence the Presence pot setting? And, with the Presence at noon doesn't it sound too muddy? Or is it sound about the same in the demos on youtube? Thanks.
Yeah, it all interacts in a strange way. Try turning down the gain while backing off the presence and using the switch to control tone. Pretty cool pedal.
I think the Input needs to go one row down to E
ReplyDeleteOoops, I'm rusty :-/

Verified. The presence control is interesting, muddy and bass-y one side to rich near distortion the other. Pretty cool, cheers!

DeleteI don't have any 500kC pots handy, could I just use a 500kA and wire it backwards instead?
ReplyDeleteYes, it works. I do it for testing when I don't have the proper taper.
DeleteIf you have an A1m pot you can place a 1m resistor across lugs 1 and 3 and it will basically make it a C500k
