Here is a cool one. It is essentally two separate circuits in one box, a fuzz with a switchable octave up and a tweaked Small Stone phaser. Original had separate boards as well and if you wish you can house them in separate enclosures. If you decide to house them in one enclosure, the fuzz is the first circuit follwed by the phaser.
Schematic is avaiable at Dead End Fx
Kind of Monterey monster, is'n't it?... ;O)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, it is missing in your formidable library: Frantone Vibutron. I think you you should do something about that... The world needs a decent layout. With the fucking rotary, as original, if you please.
:-p Ok, I will upload the Vibutron in a couple of hours. I included the Rate switch mod but you can omit it by move a cap...
DeleteHail, finally verified. Some corrections for the little monster to work:
ReplyDeleteA. FUZZ SECTION: 1. resistor at A8-11 is 100R and not 100K; 2. reverse transformer S/P to conform to the schematic.
B. PHASER SECTION: 1. resistor at N-R22 is 100Rr not 100K, 2. the two resistors of 1K are missing to form the Vref voltage. You can add them at O-P14 and O-Q6 respectively. Without the 2x 1k resistors the buffer won't work.
So there it is, fuzz is rich and phaser is cool. Worth building it. I tried to minimize the layouts in an unorthodox manner to fit them both in a 1590bb. Cheers!
Cool! I'll make the changes and tag it after work. Thanks for tackling this one. Cheers!
DeleteBoth layout is now corrected and tagged as verified. However, the Vref was alread in the layout, se Q-T 24 and T-W 25.
DeleteOnce agin thanks a lot!

ReplyDelete13 links on the octave section?
ReplyDeleteIan, I built the phaser side of this effect last night. I misplaced a couple resistors and had no sound initially. Worked out what I mixed up and got it working tonight. It's worth building. It is, essentially I guess, a small stone but to my ears it's much more subtle and clear sounding. It reminds me of an Ibanez PT-9. Gentle 70's sound. I am also getting some nice rotary stuff which is an unexpected bonus. Not a strong phaser but I imagine with a fuzz slamming into it, it would be plenty. I like it enough that I may box it alone. Thought you might be interested.
ReplyDeleteI defo want to build this, I have a DD enclosure with the fuzz on one side just waiting for the phaser. I'm thinking the Frantone Vibutron is first tho, it sounds amazing
