Sentinel

  1. Just finished this one and it's working great although two things.
-My width pot seems to be working in reverse.
-I'm getting wet only. Not sure if its designed this way but it'd be nice to be able to mix dry in or at least get 50/50 with no setting.
Otherwise, this circuit is super cool. As always fuzzhead, thanks for posting, you're killing it with these layouts.

    1. Yep, this is a "mushroom-trip-in-a-box".-p

As for clean blend....there is none in this design, only fully wet signal. I think we need to add another dual op amp stage if we want a stable clean signal to blend.
Also, I decided to keep lug numbering per the schematic for the Width pot. It is easy to swap if desired.

    2. In that case you could easily add a Split-N-Blend daughterboard, just connect the input and output of the Sentinel to the send and return and you're set.

    3. I built the other layout of this pedal awhile back. I just took this advice and it works great!!!! As if the pedal wasn’t already cool, this mod really opens it up! I was just going to use a trim pot, but extra pot wound up to be quite useful......Thanks for the great idea 👍

  2. Oh boy, oh boy! This is right up my twisted alley! Now I have something fun to do tonight!

  4. Is it possible to make this without the rate LED?

    1. I wouldn't bet any money on it but I think you can omit the rate LED.

  5. Hey guys,
Since I am pretty new to this, what's that 25k pot? Is it a trim pot? Is it lin or log? And can I use a normal one instead of a trim pot?

    1. Hi Toby!
It is a trimpot indeed. Its purpose is to fine tune the amount of feedback (and noise) going back into the circuit. Not sure if it useful as an ecternal control, it is more like a "set and forget" control. Log or linear doesn't matter iether...

  6. Hey, thanks! I forgot to ask one more thing. Where to connect the footswitch to? And does it have to be SPST?

    1. If you mean the footswitch, you need iether a DPDT or a 3PDT if you want a LED indicator.

  7. I’m having a few issues with this.
-The depth pot does next to nothing, actually... it does nothing apart from changes the pitch as you’re turning it, once I stop twisting the knob the effect is the same either way of the rotation.
    -the speed pot does nothing
-the rate led (I used red/green) is solid red, not pulsing on or off, nor pulsing red-green.... I’ve never used bi-colour LEDs before so unsure of how they’re meant to work, does it matter which led is +A and +B as long as they’re both +legs?
I’ve triple checked everything and cut between all my strips but no change

  8. I managed to get the circuit working. Sounds great!! Now trying to add the split and blend from tagboardfx but it doesn’t seem to work.... it just totally cuts my signal. Has anyone had any luck adding the split and blend to this?

    1. I built the old version on Tagboard and really liked the pedal, the only issue for me was that there was a delay from when you pick a note and when it sounds. The blend solved this issue.

    2. Mine does the same thing with the led what was your fix

    3. I'm having the same problem, depth and speed pot do nothing, what was your solution? Tried it twice and don't seem to find the reason

  9. Very cool effect! Split n Blend certainly made this more usable.
I wanted a volume control, so I used an EQD arrows circuit to boost at the output and would highly recommend since the volume drops below unity (or at least for mine) when blend is at 50%.
Lastly, I bumped the width pot up to a B10K for longer delay times.
I would love to figure out how to stop the BI Color LED from blinking while the effect is off, if anyone has pointers.
    Thanks for the layout Fuzzhead!

    1. This circuit must be inverting the phase, that's why you're perceiving a volume drop at 50/50 mix. I might try a phase inverter circuit for the sentinel and the split and blend.

  10. Yeah, I did the same thing…. Added an LPB with trimmer to be set and forget volume control

  11. Is it possible to mod this to have slower delay and mod speeds?

  12. hey! is there possible to post here the Schematic by any chance? i've headed to the link on diystompboxes and the link posted there for the schematic doesn't work... thanks in advance

    1. Perfect!! Thanks a lot !!
By the way i have a unpopulated board from abominable electronics - god botherer in case you're interested.. i guess is already retired ( not sure ) but a nice layout and clean schematic would be nice for the diy community
Apparently is a Big Muff ( creamy Dreamer ) into a Phase 90

  13. my speed control does nothing, one of my rate leds stays solid, depth control does little. A few people on here had the same issue. no one said how they fixed it. Any idea?
