Krank SK - Krankenstein Amp Emulator

A J-FET / MOSFET amp emulator of Krank Krankenstein. Very interesing transistor setup with MOSFET and silicon diodes in some of the gain stages. Schematic specifies KP303s for the J FETS but western analouges is J201 and 2N5457/58. Managed to keep it reasonable small so the brave one could try to fit this 6 knobber in a 1509B box....

    1. Ah, KP it is, never get used to to the cyrillic letters...

  2. This one is pretty amazing. Very saturated, high gain circuit with excellent tone controls. A definite keeper. You'll need a buffer in front of it or it'll make your ears bleed, you'll see in the video. Simple solution is to run any Boss pedals before it or build the Klon buffer from here, that's what I'm using in the video. I also think it sounds a lot better without the 4148 diodes, it's kind of gritty. But you might like them so use sockets and see for yourself.

  3. Just built this with the buffer in front of it. Sounds kinda fizzy/fuzzy. I'm chasing the Dimebag tone and this is pretty close, but not quite there. I used J201 and 2n5457s. Should I take the diodes out? Would I need to jumper them anywhere?
