It’s more a booster/overdrive. Can get fairly gainy. Sounds great stacked with other stuff. Has that solid state, sterile (in a good way) drive sound. As per the notes in the Aion build document the treble control does produce oscillation in the last 10% of the pot. I just tacked a resistor (10k I think) onto the treble pot and it stopped the oscillation.
Just built this one up. Sounds pretty unique in a good way. I love a circuit that goes well above unity volume and this one is loud! Running a buffer before the circuit solves the squeal on this one with the treble way up.
I built this and it worked but was oscillating in all settings, I rebuilt the board and it is still doing it. I used different transformers, but I think the problem is just how much gain it has. I think I’m just going to just order a board from aion, but may try a shielded cable on the input first.
Excuse my ignorance but, what´s the meaning of the transparent resistors?
ReplyDeleteJust to show you the cuts in the copper track.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, thanks!
ReplyDeleteConsider this one verified. Sounds great. Instant Albini tones.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! This one is pretty high on my list. So...how does it behaves? Loke a booster, overdrive or even fuzz/distortion?

ReplyDeleteGreat! Good to know! So you connected 10k(?) resistor to lug 2 or 3 on the treble pot?
DeleteLug 3. I’ve just boxed it up with a Percolator. Great combo.

DeleteDoes anyone know if I can sub the TM018 for a TM019 or anything? Otherwise I'll have to pay through the nose to import one from the US. Thanks.
