Just finished this and it sounds ace!! Very high output though, sheesh!!!! Does anybody know the differences in the V2? I know the volume pot is more conservative but I don't know the value, or even if it's just this that makes the difference. hmmm.
How did everyone else get their build to work when the VREF circuit doesn't line up? I felt like I was taking crazy pills, trying to debug mine, until I noticed (1) the jumper from H12-L12 ought to run from H12-N12, and (2) the jumper from M16-S16 ought to run from N16-S16. (For the jumper between pins 6-7 of IC2,I just bridged them on the copper side of the vero.) Now it works just fine.
Hi sebastian, regardig to your comment if i am not wrong ,you mean actual dude design doesn't working without your mod's correct?i want to make sure before i build it. Thanks
I built this over the last few days and fired it up tonight. It works, consider this confirmed.
ReplyDeletebiggest build for myself so far; will post video tomorrow
DeleteNice! I'll tag it!
Deletefuzzhead, Thanks so much for posting this one. Fun build and sounds good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great layout! Any idea if this is version 1 or 2 of The Dude?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I don't know, the schematic didn't specified which version it is. Possibly V1?
DeleteThanks for getting back to me! Do you by any chance still have a link to the schematic?
DeleteIt is in this thread at PedalPCB forum.

ReplyDeleteGreat! The most simple sollution for more control of the huge amount of output could be to use 50k log pot for the vcolume control?
DeleteYup, that did it. Many thanks.

Anybody have any ideas on how to mod the dude for less or switchable compression levels?
ReplyDeleteD7 i D6 should be reversed (according to the schematic):) It has huge ipact for the sustain :)
