Way Huge Conquistador Fuzzstortion

  1. I built two of this and with the gain maxed up, it self oscillate, but no musical thing like fuzz factory. And if I put a resistor to limit the gain on the pot, it no has enough gain. Any suggestion?

    1. Hmmm. I don't know. This layout is verified(not by me but by AlexS). Have you triple checked the usual things like solderbridges, solder joints etc. Are you using the stock transistors?

    2. What transistor did you use? Mine is very gated, but sounds just like the demo videos.

    3. I didn't remember the germanium one, it's a russian low gain. The hfe is about 80, but the germanium one seems act on the last amplification part and not the gain part. And i used 2n3906 to silicon part. I built 2 board and I have the same problem. Its gated, sounds like the video, but with gain maxed up it oscillates.

    4. All three are supposed to be silicon. Try another 2n3906 there until you can get what you need. It sounded ok in mine. Right now it has a BD136 as I read it's close to the stock MJE210.

      As an experiment, I also tried several germanium transistors in Q3 when I first built it and it oscillated, like yours.

  2. Built this one and had a weird oscillation happening. I used MJE210 and 2N3906's. I've never built one with this MJE's so I was rolling the dice on them & thought it may be the same issue mentioned...so I swapped out the 2n3906's for a variety of transistors and tried flipping transistors, etc;

    It turned out it was something with my new power supply. Still not 100% sure what the problem is with my power supply but I switched to my old one and it sounds just like demos online (no oscillation, sounds good). It reminds me a bit of the glitchy/gated fuzz sound you can get out of a Fuzz Factory with the right settings (like an old 8-bit video game). Thanks, Anders!!!!!
